The T.E.A.C.H Project was initiated in urban slums of South Delhi in April 2004 with support from ‘Asha for Education” Stanford University Chapter, CA. The project which was started for the overall development of adolescent girls has completed five years and is now supported by Asha for Education, Silicon Valley Chapter.
TEACH project is an effort of ABHAS to develop an innovative education model, which is responsive to the needs and situation of underprivileged adolescent girls living in urban slum communities.
The model is intended to reduce illiteracy, provide vocational skills, life skills and gender training for adolescents who have been denied formal educational opportunities, so as to make them self-reliant.
The Girls Interest Centre has been set up in the community to facilitate an integrated delivery of “Vocation with Education” to support adolescent girls, both in their productive and reproductive roles.
